When A Swingin’ Affair took the Carr Amphitheater stage Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd at South Shore Conservatory’s Evenings Under the Stars concert series, Hingham’s Jack Murphy, saxophone, was among the performers.
“South Shore Conservatory (SSC) is committed to bringing student and professional artists together whenever possible,” said SSC Artistic Director Steve Bass. “While the sold-out audience represented an important milestone for SSC, the most meaningful part of the evening was that these students were able to experience the thrill of performing with a live 16-piece big band. It was a proud and unforgettable example of what SSC can make possible for young artists.”
Murphy was hand-picked to perform on stage because of his stellar musicianship in SSC’s Summer Music Festival Jazz Combo. On Saturday night, the combo played alongside some of the region’s most accomplished musicians, including Grammy Award-winning trumpeter Bijon Watson and Boston Pops drummer George Darrah.
Saturday night’s Sinatra Under the Stars performance, which filled both the 200-seat pavilion and 200-seat lawn, concluded SSC’s 2026 Evenings Under the Star series.
