Linden Ponds resident Mildred M. Fisher — who will celebrate a very special occasion on Sunday — her 100th birthday — was recognized by the Select Board this week. She is the mother of board member Joseph Fisher.

Born in Philadelphia on May 26, 1924, she is the mother of two children and also has four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, with another on the way.

Mrs. Fisher earned a B.A. at Temple University, and after raising her children went on to earn an M.A. in education administration at Villanova University.

She is a retired teacher and school administrator, serving in those roles in Philadelphia and Lower Merion, Penn.

A longtime resident of Sarasota, Fla., Mrs. Fisher is the past president of the Sarasota-Manatee Chapter of the National Council of Jewish Women.

In her earlier years, she enjoyed ice skating and horseback riding.

The Hingham Anchor wishes Mrs. Fisher a very happy birthday, full of love and lots of fun!
