May 14, 2021 by Carol Britton Meyer

After 18 weeks in the medium-risk COVID-19 "yellow" zone, Hingham is back in the low-risk "green" category.

There were nine new cases of COVID-19 in Hingham since last week's Massachusetts Department of Public Health report.

This week's number is down from 15 reported positive cases on May 6, 22 the previous week, and 44 the week before that.

There were 24 new COVID-19 cases reported in the last 14 days, down from 43 last week, and 72 the prior week. The total number of COVID-19 cases in Hingham since Jan. 1, 2020 is 1,953.

Updates:

After administering more than 19,000 tests for Hingham residents and neighbors from nearby communities, the mPathy COVID-19 testing center on Cushing Street will be closing on May 23 as usage of the site has decreased significantly in recent weeks. The last possible day to schedule a test will be Saturday, May 22, at https://www.mpathy.org/schedule

For those who need a COVID-19 test after May 22,  tests are available at CVS locations in Hingham, Weymouth, and Norwell; Walgreens locations in Weymouth and Rockland; and the CareWell Urgent Care Center in Norwell, among other places.
