October 6, 2026 Submitted By Harbor Media
Harbor Media, Hingham’s community media nonprofit providing hyperlocal television and video services since 2011, will host its 2026 Annual Meeting and Open Studio on Thursday, October 8 at 6:30 p.m. at its Hingham television studio, 35 Pond Park Rd., Suite 8, in Hingham.
This year’s event will celebrate 15 years of service in Hingham and eight years in Norwell, bringing together members, volunteers, community partners, local officials and supporters for an evening highlighting the people, programming and partnerships that connect the South Shore community.
Following a brief official Annual Meeting of Members, Harbor Media will open its studio for a community celebration featuring a year-in-review video, member awards, a keynote presentation and a preview of new initiatives planned for the coming year.
Harbor Media will also announce plans for a new community film festival, designed to showcase locally produced films and video storytelling while creating new opportunities for filmmakers, students, community producers and residents to share their work.
“Harbor Media continues to evolve well beyond traditional public access television,” said Michelle Balconi, Executive Director of Harbor Media. “Our studio has become a place where community members can create, learn, tell important local stories and connect with one another with programming shown in high definition on television, online streaming and iOS app. This evening gives us an opportunity to celebrate the people who make that possible while also sharing some exciting ideas for where Harbor Media is headed next.”
The evening will include recognition of Harbor Media members whose work and participation have contributed to local public, educational and government programming throughout the year.
“Community participation is at the heart of Harbor Media,” said Mary Ann Blackmur, President of the Harbor Media Board of Directors. “Our annual meeting is an opportunity to recognize the tremendous commitment of our members, staff, volunteers and community partners and to invite even more residents to become involved. We are excited to showcase what is happening inside the studio today and what is ahead for Harbor Media.”

KEYNOTE SPEAKER
Harbor Media will welcome Sally Meehan Sobhian as its featured keynote speaker. A former Harbor Media community television volunteer while in high school, Sobhian has gone on to work as a writer, director and producer and is currently the director, writer and producer of The Pony Express Musical.
Sobhian will speak about her creative journey and the role that local media, community support and hands-on production opportunities can play in developing and supporting storytellers.

LOOKING AHEAD
During the Open Studio portion of the evening, Harbor Media will showcase recent productions and community partnerships and share plans for expanded programming and creative opportunities in the year ahead, including the forthcoming film festival.
Guests will also have an opportunity to tour Harbor Media’s production facilities, meet staff and producers, and learn more about opportunities to create programming, volunteer, participate in classes and become involved with Harbor Media.
Harbor Media will also invite Hingham and Norwell residents interested in future service on the Harbor Media Board of Directors to learn more about Board opportunities and the nomination process.
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2026, with the official Annual Meeting of Members followed by the Open Studio celebration, year-in-review video, awards, keynote presentation, refreshments and studio tours.
