The Hingham Anchor has the exclusive!  Salty Days Fish Co. is opening a new location in Hingham. The latest restaurant will open in the Hingham Shipyard and occupy 19 Shipyard Drive, the current Boathouse Bistro site. (Don’t fret; Boathouse Bistro will be relocating to the Nantasket Beach Resort).

Salty Days opened its doors as a seafood market in Hingham in 2020 with popular poke bowls and a variety of sushi rolls. With success in the market, the team wanted to expand and build on their roots in the South Shore community. In 2022, Salty Days opened a sit-down restaurant on Main Street in Cohasset, which has been wildly successful. The menu has grown and features a robust sushi and raw bar program and other favorites, such as smash burgers, pastas, steak frites, savory salads, sandwiches, and other mains. Additions to the Cohasset location included an upgraded kitchen and a new beer and wine bar area. In 2023, the Hingham fish shop closed its doors to focus on building the brand of the Cohasset site, so opening a new sit-down concept in Hingham is like a homecoming.

We sat down with owner and founder Sean McDaniel for the scoop. “With the success of Salty Days in Cohasset, there is a high demand for a second location. We want to return to our roots in Hingham, where we first opened. We had a wonderful following and love the Hingham community; our goal was to get back there as soon as we could.”

The new restaurant will be a similar concept to Cohasset, but with its own unique touches. The site will have the same sushi program as well as favorites like the smash burger and tuna tartare. There will be a full bar with about 10 seats and a larger outdoor dining patio.

McDaniel and team hope Salty Days will continue to be a place where families gather, as well as a destination for date nights, or a delicious takeout option for a cozy night at home or at the beach. “With our proximity to the commuter ferry, riders can order their dinners online from the boat, and swing by and pick it up on their way home.”

McDaniel plans on taking over the lease on July 1, with hopes for an early fall opening. Salty Days will be open seven days a week for lunch and dinner.
