Hingham trick-or-treaters will be illuminated by a full “blue” moon this year.

The Halloween full moon is the second of the month, making it a “blue” moon. `

Most months only feature one full moon; two full moons in one month is more unusual, which is where the expression “once in a blue moon” originates.

Keep in mind this Halloween full moon will not look blue; it will look like any other full moon.

On average, a full moon falls on Halloween every 18-19 years.

More than the full moon this year, you’ll no doubt notice the cold air around for Halloween. Trick-or-Treat temperatures will be near 40 degrees, so bundle up under your costume!

Also don’t forget to “fall back” Saturday night, since Daylight Saving Time ends Sunday morning at 2 AM.
