Carol Britton Meyer recently connected with Ray Hemmings at Hingham Town Hall.

You can learn more about Ray below — what his work for the town involves, his hidden talent and favorite vacation destination, and what he enjoys doing most in his spare time.

Role working at Town Hall: maintenance specialist

What your work involves: a multitude of things such as HVAC, some light plumbing and electrical, taking care of multiple buildings, custodial work, knowing the ins and outs of Town Hall, customer service, and interacting with many different types of people.

What you like best about working at Town Hall: I like working with the Hingham community, and I appreciate the importance of my work. I have great colleagues and bosses, which makes the days less stressful.

What makes Hingham unique? Definitely the rich history of the town and the tight-knit nature of the community.

What do you enjoy doing most in your spare time? Working out, traveling with my fiancee and step-daughter, relaxing at home with family while we binge-watch our favorite shows, watching Celtics and Patriots games with my son, and playing with my dogs.

Favorite Hingham local spot: World’s End

Favorite Hingham restaurant/eatery and menu item: The Quarry. I enjoy the Quarry Burger with truffle fries.

Favorite memory from living in Hingham for more than 15 years: coaching the Hingham Youth Football League courtesy of my good friend Steve White, who was the head coach at the time and got me involved.

Favorite vacation destination: Aruba! – Baby Beach is my favorite!

Do you have a hidden talent? I can play the piano.

Interesting fact about yourself that others may not know about: I used to plan semi-professional football for the Boston Panthers.

Anything else you would like to share? I’m an avid Boston sports fan and dog lover.

  3. This man is a beautiful person. You always smile when you see him. There should be more people like him in this world. A very strong, can be tough, could be frightening but once you meet him and get to know him, he is an angel in disguise. He is always willing to help and will do it with a smile sometime a few jokes and always a chuckle here and there. Can you tell I love him.

I’m glad he was picked to start this new group of articles because all you need is 5 minutes with Horatio to know he could be your friend.
