With the warm weather season on the horizon, Derby Street Shops has announced the lineup for its annual kid-friendly events series, Summer Thursdays, in addition to the return of Music Together® summer sessions. Kicking off on May 2, Summer Thursdays will once again offer an exciting lineup of outdoor entertainment and activities for the whole family to enjoy each Thursday from May through August. Also back by popular demand for the second year, Music Together® in partnership with The South Shore Conservatory will offer early childhood music classes in two 6-week sessions starting in May and July.

SUMMER THURSDAYS
Summer Thursdays will feature an extensive line-up of kids’ events and activities such as live music, character meet and greets, yoga paired with storytime, playtime and caregiver meetups, art, sensory-friendly offerings, music therapy and more. Derby Street has partnered with several local businesses and community organizations for the 2024 edition of Summer Thursdays including Arc of the South Shore, South Shore Conservatory, Children’s Art Classes Hanover, Boston MOMS, Sing, Explore, Create, and more. All Summer Thursdays events will take place outside on The Green, located between REI and Kohl’s.
Tickets will range from $5 to $25 and are required for children, with proceeds from many events benefiting Cardinal Cushing Center and Hingham Community Center. MUSIC TOGETHER®
Brought to Derby Street Shops in partnership with The South Shore Conservatory for the second year, Music Together® is a 6-week series designed to give families with children from birth through age 5 the chance to get in touch with their inner musician, connect with other families, and much more. Music Together® will offer song, movement and dance as children and caregivers play with various percussion instruments and movement props. Family classes have diverse and culturally rich music with songs that differ in tonality and rhythm, providing children with a rich musical foundation to carry with them throughout life.
The series will run in two 6-week sessions, beginning May 21 and July 7, with three time offerings for each. One 6-week session is $150 per child (including a caregiver) and includes a songbook. Registration will open on April 26th at the link here. Music Together® will be hosted on The Green. In the event of rain or extreme heat, class will take place in the Children’s Section of Barnes & Noble. Families will be notified of any changes via email from their Music Together teacher.
