One of Massachusetts’ most talked-about criminal cases takes center stage in Hingham tomorrow evening as New York Times bestselling author and award-winning investigative journalist Dave Wedge celebrates the release of his latest true crime book, Blizzard of Lies: Karen Read, John O’Keefe, and the Shocking Unsolved Murder in Cop Town, USA, during a special launch event tomorrow evening at Barnes & Noble at the Derby Street Shops at 7:00 pm.
The new book is the first comprehensive account of the Karen Read case in Massachusetts, which captivated audiences across the country and became one of the most closely followed criminal trials in recent Massachusetts history. Drawing on years of reporting, Wedge delivers an in-depth look at the investigation, the trials, and the people at the center of the controversy, while revealing exclusive new interviews and previously unreported details. His latest project has already earned a starred review from Booklist, which called Blizzard of Lies “true crime at its very best.”
A former investigative reporter for the Boston Herald, Wedge is no stranger to high-profile stories. His bestselling books include Boston Strong, which was adapted into the feature film Patriots Day, as well as acclaimed works on Whitey Bulger, Tom Brady, and John Lennon. His books, Riding with Evil: Taking Down the Notorious Pagan Motorcycle Gang and Blood & Hate: The Untold Story of Marvelous Marvin Hagler’s Battle for Glory, are both in development as feature films. Dave is also a co-producer on Hunting Whitey Bulger, a three-episode Hulu docuseries produced and narrated by Ben Affleck and based on Dave’s book, Hunting Whitey: The Inside Story of the Capture and Killing of America’s Most Wanted Crime Boss. The series airs in early 2027.
