The Hingham community is buzzing with excitement as Kids’ Cabaret announces auditions for their upcoming summer production of The Wizard of Oz. Kids’ Cabaret is a beloved non-profit organization that has been inspiring young performers in the art of theater, music, and dance for over 30 years. This summer, kids between the ages of 8 and 16 will have the opportunity to showcase their talents in this timeless classic.

Auditions will take place on Friday, June 2nd and Monday, June 5th, from 4pm to 8pm, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Hingham. Kids are encouraged to attend only one of the audition dates. Any child within the age range is welcome to audition, and the audition song will be “If I Only Had a Brain”. While the song will be taught to all auditionees on site, Kids’ Cabaret staff recommends that kids familiarize themselves with the song beforehand to feel more comfortable. Rehearsals will begin in June at St. John’s church and move to Hingham High School in July. All cast rehearsals will be held on Wednesdays from 6-9pm, with specific actors being called on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays, as schedules vary week to week. Performances will be held at Hingham High School on Thursday, July 27th, Friday, July 28th, and Saturday, July 29th at 7pm.

Not only does Kids’ Cabaret foster a love of the arts in its participants, but it also builds character by teaching important life skills such as group cooperation, individual responsibility, and conflict resolution. Since 1989, Kids’ Cabaret has been a safe, encouraging environment for adolescent theatre-lovers to form strong friendships and make unforgettable memories.

The tuition for Kids’ Cabaret is $175 for the first child and $150 per additional child in the family, which goes towards the production costs. All staff within the organization are unpaid high school and college student volunteers with experience in both the arts and working with children.

Don’t miss out on this opportunity to be a part of the magic of Kids’ Cabaret’s production of The Wizard of Oz! We can’t wait to see the talent and passion that these young performers bring to the stage.
