Aquarion responds to what residents say are higher-than-expected final water bills

August 11, 2020 by Carol Britton Meyer

In response to concerns expressed by residents that their final water bill from Aquarion Water Company -- representing service through July 31 -- was higher than expected based on earlier usage and billing statements, Aquarion Water Company issued the following statement:

"The number of days in the final bill will vary by customer because everyone’s quarterly bill does not arrive on the same day. The majority of customers will receive a final bill with normal usage. However, there are always a small number of customers whose bill may appear higher than normal. This can be due to a number of reasons including a leak or possible increased irrigation usage.  Customers who have specific questions about their bill should contact Aquarion Customer Service at 1-800-732-9678 or email cs@aquarionwater.com. There has been no change to the rate schedule on this final bill."

The next water bills will be issued by the Weir River Water System now that the Town of Hingham owns the water system serving Hingham, Hull, and part of Cohasset, effective Aug. 1. Aquarion will continue to provide billing services in partnership with the new water system operator, SUEZ (Suez Water Environmental Services) for about six months. In 2021 SUEZ will take over full customer billing operations, which will include opening a local walk-in customer service office.
