On Tuesday, September 29, 2026, The Cohasset Select Board proudly extended its most sincere congratulations and highest recognition to the South Shore Music Circus on its monumental 75th anniversary season. “For three-quarters of a century, this historic venue has served as a cornerstone of entertainment, culture, and community impact, weaving itself deeply into the fabric of Cohasset’s history.”
Since its visionary inception as a summer playhouse in 1951, the South Shore Music Circus has sustained a proud theatrical tradition. Operating as a non-profit organization under the South Shore Playhouse Associates, it stands as one of the few continuously remaining venues of its kind in the entire United States, famous for its unique 360-degree rotating stage. From hosting legendary musical artists and world-class performers to providing inspiring children’s programming, community plays, and regional graduations, the Music Circus has long been a treasured destination for local residents and regional audiences alike.
The venue’s enduring success is a testament to the extraordinary, dedicated leadership steering its operations. Vincent Longo, CEO and Executive Producer of both the South Shore Music Circus and the Cape Cod Melody Tent, has held his position for 33 years, marking a tenure that spans nearly half of the venues’ historic lifetimes.
Working alongside Mr. Longo is Bruce Cameron, President of the Board of Directors for the South Shore Playhouse Associates. As the longest-tenured President in the organization’s history, Cameron’s life has been intertwined with the venue for decades. His stewardship journey began in 1968 when he landed his very first job sweeping the venue’s stage. His deepest connection to the theater traces back even further to 1953, where his first and most fond memory was attending a production of Brigadoon alongside his father.
