This year is a momentous occasion for America to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution. The Hingham Historical Society has put on a wide-ranging set of events to celebrate this occasion. One of the natural resources that make Hingham so special is its harbor front, and the Harbor Development Committee partner together with the Hingham Historical Society to bring Hingham a party as part of the 250th Anniversary celebrations.
The Town of Hingham has no budget for celebrations (the 4th of July parade is also funded by donations), so we are reliant upon the generosity of a couple of handfuls of donors to make this happen on behalf of all Hingham residents. The lead sponsors of the All-American Picnic are Clearly Frozen and the Mike Reilly Classic. Clearly Frozen (www.clearlyfrozen.com) is a small Hingham business that has developed a way to make crystal clear large frozen ice cubes in your freezer at home using tap water. They’ve become a top supplier on Amazon to consumers and bars alike, and have generously made a large donation to make this celebration happen.
The other lead sponsor is the Mike Reilly Classic (https://paybee.io/in-person-event/mrc/5). The Mike Reilly Classic was established to celebrate the legacy of Michael D. Reilly, a lifelong Hingham resident who had a thirst for life and passed away as a young adult in 2019. The Mike Reilly Classic supports scholarships to Saint Paul School graduates who show a commitment to Catholic education, My Brother’s Keeper Christmas initiative delivering over 13,000 presents to children and adults in Massachusetts, Play Ball a group that supports sports for children in towns that can’t afford to play sports, and Hingham’s first-ever drone show held in 2025.
Individual Hingham families who contributed a generous amount of funding to the All-American Picnic included:
- Jim and JoAnne Blakey
- Marco and Laura Boer
- Phil and Debbie Edmundson
- David and Darleen Lannon
- Ed and Nancy Morris
- Monica and David Mount
- Bill and Kathy Reardon
- TR and Sherry Schilb
- Mike and Amy Torrey
- Mark and Colleen Watson
- Kevin and Ellen Whalen
- Sandy and Jenny Weymouth
Also of great support are the Town’s Fire and Safety officers, and the Department of Public Works. They have the best interests of our Hingham community at heart, and are a pleasure to partner with.
If you see these donors around town, please thank them for their generosity because without these are donors and our lead sponsors Hingham would not have had a party at the Harbor on July 2. Children’s activities run from 3-5pm, food trucks will open up around 5pm (the beer garden opens at 3pm), and Booty Vortex, one of Boston’s favorite cover bands, will play from 7-9pm. There will be no drone show this year due to the inability to raise the funds to cover the $60,000 cost (that’s just for the drones), but there will be lots of food, music, and friends to celebrate the 250th Anniversary of the American Revolution.
