Every year, thousands of 12 year olds from all over the world compete for a chance to play in Williamsport, PA. at the Little League World Series.

Teams start off with pool play, then move on to District elimination rounds.  That’s where the Hingham team is now.  The boys went 3-2 in pool play, which saw four of the top six teams advance.  Now, in the double elimination round, Hingham won their first two games against Milton National and Norwell.  They lost 10-3 versus a tough Braintree American team.  And will face-off against Norwell again tonight in Hanover at 5:30pm for a chance to play Braintree American again for the District title tomorrow.

Finn Riley pitched a great game vs Norwell last week in the double elimination District 8 round.

“I’m very proud of how this group has set a standard for themselves from the first day of practice and dedicated every day to playing with effort, teamwork, and fun,” said head coach Pat Riley.  “They’re a joy to be around and a lot of fun to watch play the game.”

The boys have had some memorable moments throughout the tournament, including a 3-2 loss in eight innings to Scituate in pool play and a convincing 9-1 win vs Norwell, where Hingham belted two home runs and put up six runs in the top of the 6th inning to secure the win.

Grady Tysdal celebrates with his teammates after hitting Hingham’s second home run of the game.

The last time a Hingham team won District 8 and moved on to Sectionals was in 2021 when they were eliminated via a run differential tiebreaker.
