This year has been filled with news of climate chaos — destructive storms, unusual weather patterns, rising sea levels, and the planet heating up.
In response, the Social Justice Council at Old Ship Church is hosting two events related to how individuals can take actions to affect climate change.
The first event is a community screening of The Letter, a film by Laudato Si’ Movement featuring Pope Francis and five other climate leaders representing the voices of indigenous people, the youth, the poor, and the wildlife of our planet. This free screening of the movie will take place on Tuesday, October 24 at 7 p.m. Learn about the journey of five climate activists who traveled to the Vatican to share their personal stories about the climate crisis, the toll it’s taking on nature and people, and how each of them responded with actions to make a difference in this situation..
Two weeks later, on Tuesday, November 7, at 7 p.m. there will be a community presentation on ways each of us can act now to care for our common home—Planet Earth. Presenters, including members of the Hingham Climate Plan Committee and Hingham Net Zero, will provide specific ways each of us can act now and in the near future to help protect our common home.
Both events will take place at the Old Ship Meeting House, 90 Main Street, Hingham. Everyone is invited to attend.
