This is the 1964 version of the Hingham Yacht Club. The Hingham Yacht Club was born on November 11, 1895 and in 1905 a small club house was built about where the Victory Statue is on the Hingham Waterfront. In 1928, the club members purchased the former steamboat landing on Downer Avenue in Crow Point and built a new club house. The old club house was moved to North Street. The hand-carved door frame was brought from the first club house to the second club house on Downer Avenue. Unfortunately, in 1963 an accidental fire destroyed the building. Luckily this ‘new’ club house was completed in September of 1964 and stands today at the end of Downer Avenue. This photo is from the Hingham Historical Society archives.
