Across Lincoln Street, from the main entrance to the Hingham Shipyard was the Bethlehem-Hingham Shipyard Employment Building. After WWII the Hingham School Department was able to use this building the while construction commenced on new schools for the growing school population. In 1947 all 5th and 6th graders went to North. In 1959 all seventh graders went to North. After the children were moved into the new schools, this building sat empty for a number of years before being torn down in 1981. The 1947 photo is from the Hingham Historical Society, and the 1975 photo is from a series of photos.
