Tropical Smoothie Cafe is opening this Sunday in Lincoln Plaza, featuring not only tasty smoothies, but also delicious flatbread, wraps, sides, and more — all day long.
TSC first opened as a smoothie stand next to the beach in Destin, Florida, and the Hingham cafe – located next to Stop & Shop at 400 Lincoln St. – reflects that same beachy vibe – a welcome change now that winter has arrived.

Owner Dhruv Patel, who came to Hingham from Delaware to open the new business after scouting around for what he thought would be the perfect location, told the Hingham Anchor that the cafe will open with a soft launch Sunday, Dec. 28, when a crew of 20-plus enthusiastic employees will be on hand to greet everyone who stops by between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. The entire community is invited. From opening day to Jan. 11, the cafe will feature a $4.99 smoothie special.
A grand opening celebration is planned from Jan. 16-19, where the first 50 customers will receive a free smoothie every week for a year.
“After living in a country setting in Delaware with cows and corn fields for 18 years, I wanted to try something different, he said. “It’s been a year-long process. We chose this location because it’s near the Shipyard and the ferry” and part of a thriving shopping plaza. “I’m glad to be part of such a nice community.”
Everyone who walks inside the cafe will be greeted with a warm, welcoming smile, and customers are called by name to pick up their orders.

Offerings range from cranberry truffle and Peanut Paradise smoothies to a sausage, egg, and cheese ‘dilla, mixed berry Greek yogurt bowl, peanut butter protein crunch bowl that also features honey, bananas, almonds, cacao nibs, granola, and chia seeds, a peanut and banana crunch flatbread, and a Southwest wrap as well as sandwiches, salads, kids food, cookies, and maple-kissed sweet potatoes and kale and apple slaw sides – among many more tasty choices.
“Everything is made from scratch – from fresh ingredients such as strawberries, pineapple, and mango for the smoothies,” Patel said. “Tropical Smoothie Cafe offerings promote a healthy lifestyle.”
The hidden gem, he explained, is “the mind-blowing, unique food that’s served for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.”
Cafe hours are Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Hingham cafe is one of 1,600 locations nationwide.
Customers may order online at www.tropicalsmoothiecafe.com or on the Tropical Smoothie Cafe app in the app store. Visit https://www.tropicalsmoothiecafe.com/menu/ to view the menu, which varies by location.
“When you download the app, you get a free smoothie after your first purchase along with exclusive and surprise birthday rewards and you build up points after every purchase,” Patel explained. “You can also place an order from Dec. 28 on, when we go live with third-party delivery vendors such as DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub, and Postmates.”
The Hingham cafe will provide catering services after February “once we settle in after our grand opening. We will cater for all types of events, such as everyday office meetings, school activities, graduations, birthdays, and even fundraisers in the Spring to give back to the community,” Patel said. “Any sports team or school club can have a fundraiser inside the cafe, where we give back a portion of our sales during the event.”
