The Hingham Girl Scout House will be hosting an Open House to celebrate it’s recently completed renovation which has made the Girl Scout House accessible for all. The newly completed renovations of the House at 26 Burr Road, include a fully accessible kitchen and bathroom on the first floor, and new even flooring in the Main Hall. The Open House is scheduled for Saturday, March 15 from 3-5pm.
Thanks to private fundraising and donations from the community, the first phase of the project dates back to 2018 when a ramp was installed on the right exterior of the building to make it easier for those with mobility challenges to get into the nearly 100 year old structure. Phase two of the accessibility project became possible after the Girl Scout House was granted funding from Hingham’s Community Preservation Committee in 2023.
As the first Girl Scout House built in New England, and the home to over 30 Girl Scout Troops townwide, we are hosting this event to thank the community for their continued support. Please stop by for light refreshments, and a tour of the new kitchen, bathroom and main hall. Displays featuring our beloved Scout House’s rich history will also be up for viewing.
