South Shore Eco Fest has been rescheduled to Sunday, May 21, from 1 to 6 p.m., due to Saturday’s weather forecast.

Now in its second year, the event offers a wide variety of ideas on how to live more sustainably, within a fun-filled venue on Cohasset Common this weekend.

There are several Hingham participants, including Peter Swanson, Hingham Municipal Lighting Plant, the Climate Action Planning Committee, Hingham Net Zero, and the Hingham League of Women Voters.

All proceeds will go toward the Just1Action Youth Sustainability Grant program, which is designed to help fund youth-led sustainability projects across the South Shore.  Individuals, community organizations, and youth not-for-profit organizations are eligible to apply. Projects must take place and serve the South Shore. (Go to https://www.just1bag.us/grants for details.)

“We just awarded our first grant this winter, which is funding a pollinator garden at East Elementary School in Hingham, which will be featured during Eco Fest,” Marisa Manley, a member of the Eco Fest organizing committee, told the Hingham Anchor.

Eco Fest — hosted by Just1Bag2020 — brings together dozens of local and sustainability-minded businesses, organizations, and non-profits from Cohasset, Hingham, and other South Shore communities in a celebration of eco-friendly living for all ages.

“Eco Fest is a way of educating and inspiring our attendees on all of the different ways that you can live a more sustainable life. It doesn’t have to be hard — there are so many different ways to make small changes,” Manley said. “We aim to bring a diverse set of local businesses and organizations together to give our attendees a broad spectrum of all of the different ways they could make more sustainable choices. This is what Just1bag2020 is all about — taking small steps, which can lead to big change. ”

Participants include Untold Brewing, food trucks and carts (Nona’s Homemade South Shore Taco Guy, Zaaki Food Truck, Mom on the Go, Just Hummus, and Tiki Turbo) and live music by Gracie Grace & All the Good Boys, Thirsty Boots, and The Only Humans.

Entertainment for children will feature Mama Steph and Through Me to You Puppetry, and there will also be a raffle and scavenger hunt — all great family fun!

New this year is the Green Home Showcase located inside Cohasset Town Hall, featuring innovative products and ideas for a greener, more sustainable home. Electric fireplaces, revolutionary new designs for ductless mini-splits, and rooftop solar with battery storage are just a few of the products to check out.
