The South Shore Country Club, supported by its 501c3 fundraising arm — Friends of the South Shore Country Club — unveiled an iconic clock and memorial brick patio last September.
The Verdin Clock, generously donated by the Findley Family in memory of their eldest brother Jim Findley, serves as an example of the bright future of the Club that so many worked tirelessly to create. A stickler for timeliness as a retired Red Line Trucking Company scheduler, Jim enjoyed many seasons as a beloved starter at the SSCC. The construction and installation of a significant clock on the Ironwood patio near the first tee therefore made perfect sense to the Findley family.

The course is home to numerous benches and items memorializing past SSCC enthusiasts and permit holders. The construction of a memorial patio surrounding the clock made perfect sense to Kevin Whalen, SSCC’s executive director, and the Friends Board of Directors. The patio can hold over 1,000 bricks available for engraving a special event, a loved one, booster clubs, golf outings, bowling championships . . . the possibilities are endless! The 4×8-inch bricks cost $125 each, with the initial installation scheduled for Spring 2026. Proceeds will be used for the betterment of the Club.
We thank the Findley Family for their most generous gift and invite the community to support the Buy a Brick Program at the South Shore Country Club.
