Slow Down, Listen Deeply: A Monastic Weekend at Glastonbury Abbey

Monks at Glastonbury Abbey (July 2025)

October 23, 2025 by Glastonbury Abbey

Glastonbury Abbey invites Catholic men who feel drawn to a deeper relationship with God to its Monastic Experience Weekend, taking place November 14–16, 2025, at the Abbey’s peaceful campus in Hingham.

This reflective weekend offers a rare opportunity to experience the Benedictine way of life — prayer, work, and community — alongside the monks of Glastonbury Abbey. Participants will be welcomed into the retreat house to:

  • Pray the Divine Office with the monastic community.
  • Share meals and conversation with the monks.
  • Spend time in silence, reflection, and spiritual listening.

“St. Benedict tells us to see if a person truly seeks God,” says Brother Daniel, one of the Abbey’s vocation directors. “This weekend is about creating space to listen—to scripture, to silence, and to the heart’s quiet longing.”

Father Albrecht adds, “The monastic path isn’t about retreating from the world—it’s about awakening to it. Prayer teaches us to see Christ in every person and every moment.”

Whether the experience leads to a vocational calling or simply renews one’s faith, guests are welcomed with warmth and hospitality.
