There’s good news to report this week about the status of the long-awaited South Shore Country Club pool following now-resolved extended litigation that delayed the project significantly.

“We received a bid that is within the funding parameters authorized by town meeting, and we are now able to discuss moving forward with construction of a town pool,” Select Board Chair William Ramsey told the Hingham Anchor in response to an inquiry. “I know there is lot of interest in this project, and I am excited about getting it moving.”

Next Tuesday, March 10, the Country Club Management Committee will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Zoom to review the bid and vote to award the $7.896 million contract for a new community pool and bathhouse facility to the low bidder – Construction Dynamics Inc. of Clinton, Mass.

During their meeting that night, which starts at 6 p.m., the select board will consider and vote on the Construction Dynamics agreement.

Voters at the 2022 Town Meeting appropriated an amount not to exceed $8 million for the town-owned pool facility. The current plan includes a handicapped-accessible six-lane, 25-yard lap pool, a zero-depth entry pool, a bathhouse, equipment storage building, and a splash pad.
