June 5, 2025 by The Town of Hingham
The Hingham Planning Department released a draft of its Economic Development Strategic Plan Report for public comment ahead of its presentation to the Select Board, Planning Board and Hingham Industrial Development Commission in a special joint meeting on June 10. The meeting will be in-person at Hingham Town Hall with a virtual participation option.
The report and meeting are continuations of Hingham’s work with the Town of Rockland and Camoin Associates to develop an Economic Development Strategic Plan that capitalizes on the three primary commercial districts of the Hingham Shipyard, Hingham Downtown, and the South Hingham/Rockland corridor.
After reviewing the draft report, community members can share their feedback in the following ways:
- Completing a digital feedback form
- On June 10, attending a Joint meeting of the Select Board, Planning Board, and Hingham Development & Industrial Commission. This meeting will be in-person at Town Hall, with a remote participation option. For details, see the June 10 meeting agenda at the Select Board’s Agenda Center page.
The Economic Development Strategic Plan process kicked off in October of 2024 and has included extensive community outreach, including stakeholder interviews, outreach sessions, and surveys. In final form, this plan will provide Hingham a path to pursuing new revenue opportunities that leverage the town’s strengths, protect its assets, and accounts for evolving business location strategies.
