Nicole Minahan who recently moved to town, is opening a boutique reformer Pilates studio in downtown Hingham, offering workouts that are “empowering, challenging, energizing and, of course, fun!” she told the Hingham Anchor. The opening date is Sept. 15, with select classes available for sign up as soon as tomorrow.

Patton Pilates (from her maiden name) is located at 51 South St., Unit 101 – with an entrance on Main Street. The studio offers a space to “move, sweat, connect, rebalance, and breathe,” she said.

The theme behind this “reformer” Pilates workout featuring an athletic approach is “rooted in form, fueled by power, and built for connection” within an intimate yet energetic setting and a clean, modern, and chic space.

Classes have an added ‘twist’
While classic Pilates principles – including alignment, centering, and deep breathing – are at the core of Patton Pilates’ programming, the classes have an added “twist” with “high repetitions, the incorporation of weights, balls, and rings, and lots of power – for a challenging and rejuvenating experience,” Minahan explained.

Both small-group (up to four individuals) and private sessions are offered that are more personalized and allow clients to gradually build strength, flexibility, and precision while making community-building connections.

All levels are welcome. “The boutique setting allows for modifications for those who are newer to the workout, prenatal, or are recovering from an injury,” Minahan said. “Private sessions can be scheduled before you jump into a class.”

‘The exercises require a lot of focus’
It’s truly a mind-body workout. “The exercises require a lot of focus, so you have no choice but to be in the present moment – which makes it a mental escape as much as it is physical,” Minahan said. “The classes will leave clients feeling sweaty from a good workout that has cleared their mind.”

In 2021, Minahan acquired her Balanced Body Pilates and personal training certification, quickly realizing from client feedback that her reformer workouts were unique, which is where Patton Pilates originated.

After teaching Pilates in a city setting, she chose downtown Hingham as the “perfect space” for her studio.

“I wanted to be somewhere where there’s a lot of foot traffic and at a convenient location,” Minahan said. The lively ambience of Hingham Square was another draw.

Patton Pilates will offer “another outlet for people to add to their routine – an opportunity to get a good sweat in and to feel their best.”
