Maryann V. Gabriele, a long-time resident of Hingham, passed away on August 31, 2025.
She was the co-founder and eventual owner of an advertising specialty company and certified as a woman-owned business with the state. Maryann was very successful in her career and deeply proud of her accomplishments in business and of her family.
Creative and artistic by nature, she loved tennis, bridge and sewing, making countless drapes, bedding and other items for her home and the homes of her family. While raising her children, she was active in the Hingham Mother’s Club, and throughout her life she found joy in traveling the world. In retirement, she split her time between Naples, Florida and Hingham, cherishing especially the moments spent with her granddaughter Sydney, crafting and painting together.
Maryann was married to Cas Gabriele of Pembroke, MA, for more than 60 years, and together they raised their family in Hingham. She was mother to Andrea Gabriele of Pembroke (with Jamie Geary); Paul Gabriele of Abington (with Pam Bouget); and Jocelyn Flaherty and her husband, Coleman, of Hingham.
She was the sister of the late Michael Cortese and the beloved grandmother of Harrison Gabriele and Sydney Flaherty.
The family is deeply grateful to the staff at Allerton House in Hingham, Norwell VNA Hospice; Home Sweet Home Health Services, and especially to Rebecca Lucente of Mimi’s Choice Care Management for her loving care of Maryann over the past 15 months.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday September 6th, 2025, from 9-10:30am at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel 21 Pond St Hingham MA 02043, followed by a funeral mass at 11am at Resurrection Parish 1057 Main St Hingham MA 02043. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s Cemetery Hersey St Hingham MA 02043.
