On October 1, NVNA and Hospice will officially launch its ambitious $20 million “Voices” Campaign with a kickoff breakfast at Black Rock Country Club in Hingham. The campaign, already more than halfway to its goal with $11.4 million raised, aims to strengthen hospice and palliative care for families across 27 South Shore communities, including Hingham and Cohasset.
“We have had such careful planning for this campaign because we have been asked to do more by our community, and all of us are determined to make that happen. I believe philanthropy is our response, and it is inspiring to see our community agrees, with $11.4 million already being raised toward our ambitious goal,” shared Renee McInnes, CEO of NVNA and Hospice.
The “Voices” Campaign, co-chaired by Kitty and Tim Pinch of Hingham, is about ensuring that every patient, caregiver, and family is heard during life’s most vulnerable moments. Funds will expand caregiver training, modernize technology and patient services, sustain the Pat Roche Hospice Home, and guarantee that no one is turned away due to cost. In a region where NVNA and Hospice remains the only provider offering primary palliative care in the home, the campaign represents both a celebration of past generosity and an investment in the future.
As part of the kickoff, NVNA and Hospice will present the Amy Sylvester Award for Healthcare Excellence, created to honor individuals who embody the compassion and leadership set forth by Amy Sylvester, RN, who founded the organization in 1920.
The first honoree, Matthew Slater, is best known as a New England Patriots legend with three Super Bowl rings—but equally remarkable is his commitment to philanthropy. For more than 15 years, Slater has used his platform to support causes that strengthen families and communities across New England. His leadership and service reflect the very spirit of NVNA and Hospice’s mission.
The second recipient, Donna Pineau, PhD, RN, CNE, a member of NVNA and Hospice’s Board of Directors, has dedicated her career to advancing nursing and healthcare education. Her work has shaped the future of caregiving, ensuring that compassion and excellence remain at the heart of patient care.
Together, these honorees symbolize the values that drive the “Voices” Campaign: dignity, compassion, and community. Their recognition underscores the importance of raising both funds and awareness to secure the future of hospice and palliative care in our region.
