Hingham Public Schools is celebrating a successful hiring season thanks to recent recruitment efforts.
Superintendent Katie Roberts shared, “We are incredibly grateful for the work of our administrators and HR department in hiring efforts. HPS is looking forward to welcoming our new educators and staff on convocation day and will be ready to welcome students on September 2nd.”
More than 40 employees left the Hingham Public Schools district between July 1 and Aug. 11 of this year, and efforts to fill these positions are underway, Supt. of Schools Katie Roberts told the school committee Monday night.
There was a “strong turnout” at the Aug. 14 Hingham Public Schools hiring fair, she reported.
“There were many terrific candidates for paraeducator positions, after-school Kids in Action staff, and substitutes for a variety of positions — including teachers, bus drivers, food services workers, and custodial and maintenance staff,” Roberts said.
HPS Director of Human Resources Maryann Foley also represented Hingham at the Mass Corps hiring fair earlier in the week.
“Thank you to our HR team for their on-going recruitment efforts,”
Both events provided an opportunity to engage with more than 35 potential candidates for positions ranging from behavior technicians and paraeducators to Kids in Action teachers and assistant teachers and a van driver.
Short- and long-term leaves to be filled include two math teachers at the high school and a school bus driver.
“We’ve had a steady stream of finalists in this office. This is one of the most optimistic and hopeful times of year,” Roberts shared.
Since last Friday, there have been several additional candidates.
“We also connected with a representative from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and are exploring opportunities to support recruitment of veteran hiring in the district,” she explained.
Roberts provided a summary of school/department staffing for the 2025-26 school year.
In addition, 84 substitutes have indicated their intention to return, including 10 school nurse substitutes.
All open job opportunities are posted on the District’s new recruitment site — https://hinghamschools.schoolspring.com/ — and all open opportunities are emailed to all staff.
Roberts encourages members of the community to spread the word about hiring opportunities and to share the above link with anyone they may know with an interest in working for HPS.

A Foster School ribbon-cutting ceremony is planned for Monday, Sept. 15, at 4 p.m.
“We are looking forward to celebrating the hard work of many community members in seeing this project across the finish line and showcasing this beautiful new learning environment,” Roberts said.
The Hingham High School Dock ribbon-cutting is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 12 at 3 p.m.
