Hingham resident honored on occasion of her 108th birthday

October 29, 2205 By Carol Britton Meyer

The select board honored longtime Hingham resident Phyllis Chapman on the occasion of her 108th birthday this week.

While she was not present, the board’s message – in the form of a certificate of congratulations – was heartfelt.

The board will present the certificate to Chapman in person at a birthday party for her at the Center for Active Living today, Oct. 29.

“We’ve always celebrated Phyllis’ birthday back to when she turned 100,” Select Board Chair William Ramsey said. “She’s a wonderful member of our community, and the friends who plan her birthday party every year are just wonderful and loyal to Phyllis and her family.”

Chapman has been a Hingham resident for more than six decades, a Bentley University alum, and an avid fitness and travel enthusiast. Her actual birthday is Oct. 27.
