You are invited to join HLCT at our 2026 Annual Meeting on Tuesday, April 7 from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m. at the Girl Scout House, 26 Burr Road, Hingham. Following a brief business meeting, we are pleased to welcome Laura Burns and Christin Eigenmann, members of Hingham Net Zero Committee, which works to reduce Hingham’s carbon emissions. They will discuss Hingham’s Road to Net Zero: How Far Have We Come, and What’s Next? We will also hear from our host, Sam Downes, a freshman at Hingham High School. Sam will discuss her Girl Scout Gold Award project, aimed at increasing youth engagement in the preservation and appreciation of Hingham’s public lands. The meeting will be recorded by Harbor Media.
Laura Burns has served in a variety of roles in town government and the community, including six years on the Select Board, and as a co-founder of Hingham Net Zero. She is currently the chair of the Hingham Light Board. Christin Eigenmann moved to Hingham from Switzerland with her family. She volunteers with several environmental organizations, and previously led the Foster Elementary Green Team, which received state recognition for exceptional environmental stewardship. Sam Downes is a freshman at Hingham High School and Girl Scout Gold Award Candidate. She has partnered with HLCT to raise awareness about local trails by creating a Trail Passport Book, updating HLCT trailside kiosks, and creating the HLCT Instagram page. She is also pursuing her Eagle Scout rank with Scouts for America in Cohasset.
The HLCT is a non-profit organization dedicated to acquiring, preserving, and maintaining exceptional landscapes and natural areas in Hingham. More about the mission and activities of the HLCT is available at www.hinghamlandtrust.org.
