Under the lights at last Friday’s Hingham High football game, children between the ages of 5 and 11 were given a unique opportunity to be mentored by and perform on the field with the Hingham High Dance Team.
In its 12th year, the fundraiser began with two hours of practice in the HHS gymnasium – where registrants are taught a new routine by the HHS Dance Team. Then, they are invited to run onto the field at halftime to perform what they’ve learned – while the Dance Team and football fans cheer them on.

“Seeing the kids practice during the day and then get to perform their new routine for the fans, under the lights, was such a thrill,” said event sponsor Nandita Singh, owner of the newly expanded Boston Artistry Sneaker Bar in downtown Hingham. “We even did face glitter to get them ‘game ready!’” Other sponsors included Funky Feet Dance Studio, Fleet First and AnKang Massage.
Next year, the Boosters plan to expand to even more children who have hopes to one day become an HHS Dancer. “I’m not sure who is having more fun,” laughed HHS Dance Team booster Laurie Trezza. “The little ones who participate, or the Dance Team girls who get to teach them a new routine!”
