Under bright fall sunshine and spectacularly warm temperatures ranging from the high 70s to mid 80s, the Hingham High Crew team delivered one of its strongest performances in recent memory at the 46th Annual Textile River Regatta this past Sunday. With calm winds and a steady current setting ideal racing conditions, Hingham’s rowers earned multiple medals and showcased impressive depth, skill, and determination across all levels of competition.
Novice Boys get Hingham off to a Quick Start

The Boys First Novice 8+, featuring coxswain Reagan Pulio and rowers Miles McLucas, James Anderson, Colin Alexander, Taylor Bradl, Preston Molitor, Oliver Hurkchand, Toby Vaishnava, and Diego Figueroa, started the day strong in a competitive 15-boat field. In their first full 5,000-meter race, the crew displayed solid early-season form, finishing in the top half and signaling their potential as serious contenders this fall.
Boys Varsity Shows Depth and Power

In the Boys Second Varsity 8+ event, Hingham entered three boats. The boys Third Varsity, coxed by Jordan Brown, with stroke Jack O’Leary, Andrew Accettella, Michael Catalfano, Martin Seggev, Will Vanderweil, Huck Shaughnessy, Ben Ferguson, and bow Ryan Potter, captured an impressive bronze medal against a field of 17.
Equally impressive were the Third and Fourth Varsity boats, both racing up in class:
- The Second Varsity crew, coxed by Henry Hoch with rowers Owen Cerrato, Landy Vittorini, Aedan Sullivan, Seph Darlington, Zakary Robbins, Ben Hansmire, Will Whitrap, and Michael Lane surged to 5th place overall, ahead of more than a dozen second varsity crews.
- The Fourth Varsity, coxed by Myles Figueroa, with stroke Liam Govoni, Fox Clarke, Sam Whitrap, Xavier Bogen, Asher Ellis, Euan Chesney-Douglas, Luca Arienti, and bow Eugene Purtell, finished ahead of the Arlington-Belmont second varsity by over a minute, a testament to the program’s growing depth.
“The boys continue to trend in the right direction as speed and cohesion build with each outing,” said Boys Head Coach Dave Deluliis.

Hingham Girls Second Varsity Continues Dominance

The girls second varsity race featured three more Hingham boats: the second varsity, with coxswain Maddie Owens, stroke Stella Gutierrez, Izzy Walker, June Rogan, Annie Sargent, Coco Prohm, Ellie White, Maddie Kittinger, and bow Aubrey Fairfield; the third varsity, with coxswain Ginger Niehoff, stroke Elsie Olin, Eme Bias, Rose Lovendale, Ava Kelly, Shelby Stroka, Haley Kost, Annie Kyriss, and bow Lydia D’Arcy; and the fourth varsity, with coxswain Ashley Sinkus, stroke Neve Brown, Celia McCarthy, Veronica Webb, Peyton Burke, Lena Angel, Sasha Darmon, Audrey Lambert, and bow Fiona Galvin.
The second varsity continued their dominant season with yet another gold medal performance, blasting past their closest competitors in the Duxbury boat by 40 seconds. The girls have once again established themselves as one of the strongest second varsity boats in the region—and potentially one of the top boats in the state.
Coach Sydney Blasetti praised the crew’s effort:
“Our 2V absolutely dominated the field. They set the tone early and never looked back. Their rhythm, poise, and confidence make their speed unmatched right now. It’s been exciting to watch how they’ve grown together—they’re a powerful example of what consistency and teamwork can do.”
Girls Third Varsity Fights Past the Competition
The third varsity showed their strength by racing up in the second varsity event and defeating a half-dozen 2V boats, cruising to an impressive fifth-place finish. Composed of athletes from multiple grade levels, the boat continues to demonstrate unity, skill, and competitive spirit.
Coach Sydney reflected on their performance:
“Our 3V raced up in the 2V event, and they proved they belong there. They came in fifth overall against some very competitive lineups, which shows how deep our program truly is. They raced with heart, fought for every stroke, and showed they can hang with fast teams.”

Girls Fourth Varsity Steps Up in Class
The fourth varsity, also racing in the 2V category, exceeded expectations by finishing ahead of Arlington-Belmont, Boston Latin, and Greater Lawrence. Their grit and determination showcased the remarkable depth of the Hingham program.
Coach Sydney commended their effort:
“Our 4V also raced up in the 2V event and held their own beautifully. They beat three second varsity crews and raced with so much grit and determination. For a fourth varsity boat to step into a higher field and perform like that—it’s really impressive. They’ve come such a long way, and I’m proud of the confidence they’re rowing with.”
The Hingham Novice Girls Medal and Impress

The novice race featured eight entries and included two Hingham boats. The first novice lineup included coxswain Grace Mullen, stroke Anna Rubel, Megan Buckley, Lyla Wagner, Emma Gersack, Abigail Zimmerman, Ellie Reid, Annie Melia, and bow Aliyah Blidner. The second novice crew featured coxswain Liv Wadleigh, stroke Susanna Grissom, Abby Farris, Claire Wang, Mariella DelSesto, Finley Sullivan, Kaitlyn Reera, Cora Blackwell, and bow Sherry Xu.
Fighting hard, the first novice brought home another bronze medal for Hingham, passing several boats in the process. The second novice powered past the Westford and East Bay entries to notch yet another impressive finish.
Boys First Varsity Has a Breakthrough

In the day’s penultimate race, the boys first varsity took on a massive 16-boat field. The crew—coxswain Brent Strauss, stroke Hanley Stroka, Nate Bradl, Lucas Mangili, Lachlan Knies, Spencer Farish, Oliver McLucas, Gerard Bottini, and bow Nico Mangili—delivered a breakout performance. Racing against some of the strongest teams in the region, they surged past many competitors to finish in an impressive fourth place.
The boys continue to build strength and momentum at the right time, with the Head of the Charles just around the corner.
Girls First Varsity Brings Home More Hardware

In a fiercely competitive 14-boat field, the girls first varsity crew—coxswain Emily Gu, stroke Emme Beaudoin, Natalie Shaw, Louisa Orth, Eliza Powers, Sophia Santarelli, Thea Migliaccio, Jane Melia, and bow Bianca Kiley—got off to a fast start and quickly moved through the field. They battled powerhouse teams Exeter and CRI for the lead and ultimately secured a hard-earned bronze medal.
Coach Sydney celebrated their performance:
“Our 1V walked through some very fast crews this weekend and finished an impressive third overall. They showed tremendous composure and trust in each other. The way they handled pressure and found speed through the end of the race says a lot about the work they’ve been putting in every day. That finish was earned, stroke by stroke.”
Teamwide Momentum Builds Ahead of Head of the Charles
Overall, the Hingham coaches are thrilled with the team’s development. The younger rowers continue to improve rapidly, creating healthy competition at practice and driving the team’s growing speed.
Coach Sydney shared her pride in the team:
“This was another huge weekend for our team. We backed up our results from last weekend and showed that our speed is real across all boats. More than anything, I’m proud of the community these girls have built. They support each other, they push each other, and they truly move as one. I love this team and couldn’t be prouder to be their coach.”
Boys Head Coach Dave Deluliis echoed the enthusiasm:
“The boys’ team delivered strong performances this weekend, showing steady improvement across all boats. The boys continue to trend in the right direction as speed and cohesion build with each outing.”
After another week of fine-tuning and skill building, the team heads to Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester this Sunday to take on a massive field of competitors from club, private, and public high schools. With dozens of entries across multiple races, the boys and girls of Hingham Crew aim to cement their status as early-season contenders heading into the prestigious Head of the Charles.
