The Sons of the American Legion Squadron 118, Cohasset MA, honor veterans by
presenting the 2026 20th Annual Healing Field. The Healing Field is a field of American
Flags dedicated to honor specific veterans, sponsored by their South Shore friends and
families.
Thomas Wigmore brought this event to Cohasset, Massachusetts over 20 years ago
knowing that this event would capture the essence of what Memorial Day represent. A
day to remember all our South Shore heroes. Some of our soldiers left and never
returned. Some returned half the person that they once were. Let us take time out of our
busy lives to stop and give thanks for those who served the United States of America.
What more fitting in 2026, to give thanks on this 250 th Quincentennial Birthday of the
United States of America. From the very beginning of our great nation, before Betsy
Ross sewed the first Stars and Stripes, we had young men and women ready and
willing to fight for a new nation. Let us honor those who followed them by making this
event the biggest event ever!
This is the Legion’s major yearly fund raiser to help us support our many charities and
causes in our local community. We fund turkeys and hams during the holidays. We
sponsor local students with scholarships for universities and trade schools. We sponsor
a member to attend Boys State in the spring. We continually sponsor Special Olympics
and aid our food pantry.
In addition to presenting the American Flags for the Healing Field in 2026, the Sons of
the American Legion Squadron 118’s Honor Guard and Color Guard are active in many
ceremonies and funerals throughout the community.
The Sons of the American Legion asks all South Shore residences to honor our fallen
