Welcome to “Five Minutes With” — Anchor’s feature to help us get to know our neighbors. Everyone has a unique story to tell, so let’s get to know each other a bit more! Have someone you’d love to spend five minutes getting to know? Email us at info@hinghamanchor.com.
Carol Britton Meyer recently connected with Nandita Singh of The Boston Artistry Sneaker Bar. You can learn more about her favorite Hingham restaurant and local spot and what makes her business unique below.
Name of your business: The Boston Artistry Sneaker Bar
Location: 69 Water St.
Why Hingham? Hingham has such a strong sense of community. It’s warm and full of people who care for one another: a perfect place to build a studio that celebrates connection and community.
What makes your business unique? Everything we paint has a second life. It’s art you can actually use and wear every day. From custom sneakers and totes to hand-painted sports balls and jackets, each piece is made to be both beautiful and functional. Our creations are filled with color, imagination, and personality — art that’s meant to move, inspire, and be lived in.
What do you offer? We host art parties, moms’ nights, after-school sessions, and community pop-ups in our bright and colorful studio. We also run summer camps, kids’ fashion shows, and a “Kids Made” collection featuring designs by our young artists. In addition, we offer team-building events and creative clubs for both kids and adults who love making things together.
Favorite part of running your business: The people — always. I love seeing the excitement on a child’s face when they finish painting their sneakers, or hearing laughter from a group of moms during a creative night out. Those moments of connection remind me why I started The Boston Artistry in the first place.
Any pets? No pets at home, but my four-year-old son, Yuvraj, brings plenty of energy and love to our lives. He’s my little creative assistant and loves visiting my studio.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time? Spending time with my family, exploring local art events, and painting with my little one. When I get quiet moments, I love brainstorming creative ways to bring people together — it’s my favorite kind of daydreaming.
Favorite Hingham restaurant: I love the tacos at Bartaco, and if we’re celebrating something special, we always finish the day at Nona’s for ice cream.
Favorite local spot: The Hingham Farmers Market is such a happy spot — great energy, friendly people, and the best local finds.
Favorite vacation destination: Anywhere near the ocean. I love places that are bright, colorful, and full of inspiration — like Hawaii or Santorini — but even a weekend at Cape Cod fills me with ideas.
Something people might not know about you: Before opening The Boston Artistry, I spent over 15 years in the fashion and footwear industry. I earned my master’s degree in design and trained in Italy and the UK, studying art, fashion, and design for over a decade. I’ve had the privilege of working with several global brands, but what fulfills me most now is sharing that creative spark with kids and families right here in my community.
Anything else you’d like to add? The Boston Artistry is about connection through creativity. I want everyone who walks through our doors to have fun, feel inspired, and leave with something that’s so them — a piece of art that fits perfectly into their everyday life.
