Driving Away Winter at the Hingham Library!

February 11, 2025 by David Mehegan, Library Trustees

Hingham Library lovers will be getting out their knickerbockers, scally caps, no-cleat golf shoes, and marking Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5 on their calendars for “Library Links,” a two-day community event at the Hingham Public Library.

“Library Links,” produced by the Board of Trustees, will offer an 18-hole mini-golf course, upstairs and down, all over the Library.   No golf experience necessary!   The Friday night ticketed fundraising event, 6 to 9 p.m., supported by Hole in One Sponsor Pat MacAllen and many generous Hole Sponsors, will feature libations, the great local band Thirsty Boots, and elegant catered hors d’oeuvres.

With a course supplied by Mobile-Mini Golf, a business owned and operated by Hingham native Joe Buckley, this event has been a great success and a rollicking good time at public libraries and other nonprofit organizations all over Massachusetts. Clubs, instructions, rules of the game, and scorecards are provided.

Limited tickets for the Friday Night event are $100 per person and will be available on the library website, hinghamlibrary.org, beginning March 3. All funds will benefit Library collections and programs.

On Saturday, everyone is invited to visit the library from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to  play the course for free.  The colorful course is suitable for children to seniors, and features hills, bumps, twists, loops, and surprises.

With its fantastic collections, staff, programs, classes, and cultural events, the Hingham Public Library is the much-loved heart of our community. Along with generous taxpayer support, additional funds raised with donations and events such as “Library Links” are essential for the Trustees to maintain a public library of the highest quality that benefits both the town and surrounding area.  We hope to see you there.
