Hingham, Cohasset, and the entire South Shore continues to clean up from Monday’s blizzard.
Snowfall reached 19.5″ in Hingham on Monday, but powerful winds blew the snow into higher drifts, making plowing and shoveling a challenge.
While winds in South Hingham gusted to about 40 MPH, a peak wind gust of 71 MPH was reported right on the water in Crow Point.
During the height of the storm snow was falling at the rate of 3″ per hour, making travel virtually impossible.

This was the first blizzard on the South Shore since 2022, but the second storm of the season to bring nearly 2 feet of snow to the area, sending the seasonal snowfall total soaring to nearly 60″.
In an entire average winter we see about 50″, but recent winters have been far below that–making this season feel even more wintry.
A batch of light snow will move through Wednesday morning, but accumulations will be an inch or less.
Other than that we’ll continue to melt snow and ice for much of this week, thanks in part to a strong late February sun angle.
