When you look at this house today at 162 Main Street, think about how well it has held up to nature’s fury.
During the Hurricane of 1938, on September 21, one of the magnificent Elm trees that lined the roadway split in two, with that half landing on Bette Keyes’ home.
That day there were wind gusts of 183 mph during a higher than normal high tide causing seismographs to vibrate as if there was an earthquake and flooding along Hingham’s coast.
