Quick quiz question: Do you know how old Hingham is this year? The answer is on the front lawn of Hingham Town Hall!
Volunteers from the Hingham Fourth of July Parade Committee planted 391 flags on the Town Hall lawn to commemorate Memorial Day and kick off the 2026 50 Flags Campaign. The program has become the largest source of funding for the parade, which costs approximately $60,000 each year.
Parade Committee Chair Pat Kirk stated, “Many residents don’t realize that no tax dollars are spent on the parade. All of the funds are raised through the 50 Flags Program, button sales, and corporate and private sponsorships.”
Kirk added, “Given that this is a special year as America celebrates its 250th birthday, we hope to set a record and have 20,000 flags installed around Hingham.”
Residents can register on the town website, Hingham-ma.gov, and enter “50 Flags” in the search bar. Flags will be installed on Friday and Saturday, June 26-27, and removed two weeks later.
For a $100 donation, 50 flags will be placed on your lawn. For a $75 donation, 25 flags will be placed on your lawn. Registration is open through June 19. Anyone registering after June 19 will be charged $150 for 50 flags and $100 for 25 flags.
Please help support the parade and set a record of 20,000 flags installed throughout Hingham.
