Turkey Hill Army veteran Joe Saponaro was born in Boston in 1912. In 1947, after WWII, he moved to Hingham with his wife and two children. He bought the land at the top of Turkey Hill while working for the Boston Herald and established the riding stables in 1952. He owned and operated the stable for 35 years until his death in 1987. During that time, he was the July 4th Parade Grand Marshall in Hingham for 25 of those years.

Today the Hingham portion is owned by the Town of Hingham and managed by the Conservation Commission and the Cohasset portion is managed by Cohasset.

The house is a private residence, and the barn is gone.
