Music lovers on the South Shore are invited to celebrate the arrival of spring with an evening of classical favorites, as the Atlantic Symphony Orchestra (ASO) takes the stage on Saturday, March 28 at 7:30 PM. The concert will be held at Thayer’s Center for the Arts.

This special program brings together beloved works by Mozart and Beethoven, including the “Pastoral” Symphony, offering audiences a musical journey rooted in joy, nature, and lyrical beauty.

The evening opens with Mozart’s lively Overture to The Abduction from the Seraglio, a piece known for its bright energy and playful spirit. Its buoyant melodies set the tone for a concert that celebrates lightness and freedom.

Continuing the program is Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto, a rarely performed gem that places one of the orchestra’s most distinctive instruments front and center. The performance will feature guest soloist Heejeong Jeong, who makes her debut with the orchestra. Jeong, winner of the New England Conservatory’s concerto competition, has been gaining recognition for her expressive playing and technical command. Her appearance offers a unique opportunity for audiences to experience the bassoon in a starring role.

The concert concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 6, famously known as the “Pastoral” Symphony. This beloved work paints a vivid picture of the natural world, from gentle countryside scenes to the sounds of a passing storm, all brought to life through Beethoven’s masterful orchestration.

Together, these works reflect the beauty and serenity of the outdoors, making it a fitting tribute to the changing season, and a wonderful opportunity to breathe.

Don’t miss this chance to enjoy an evening of timeless music performed live by some of the region’s finest musicians.
