Starting with tonight’s football game at 7pm, the Harbormen and Harborwomen will compete in 4 playoff games in about 20 hours.

FIELD HOCKEY

Senior captain Kaitlyn Manning leads the Harborwomen’s defense, which has yet to allow a goal in the playoffs.

Head Coach Susan Petrie has her #1 seeded Harborwomen playing for a third straight chance at the Final Four on Saturday at 2pm vs 9th seed Reading Memorial.  Hingham is playing at their playoff level early on beating Minnechaug and Milton, 6-0 and 2-0, respectively, in the first two rounds of the playoffs.  Petrie has a very seasoned rosters with many of her players having played in these high pressure playoff games the past few season.  The Harborwomen made it to the Final Four last season before losing to eventual champs Somerset Berkley.

GIRLS SOCCER

Juniors Amelia Greisner and Taylor Bello are two of the many offensive threats the Harborwomen have this season.

The Harborwomen opened their tournament on Wednesday night vs Holliston.  They enter as the 5th seed and made easy work of the 28th seed 6-0.  Hingham had four different goal scorers including two each from juniors Taylor Bello and Maeve Maroney.  The girls will now face cross-town rivals Notre Dame Academy on Saturday at 11am at home.  This will be a rematch of a game a few weeks ago where NDA bested Hingham 2-0.  This should be a great battle as it always is when these two schools meet in the playoffs.

BOYS SOCCER

Senior Luca Greco goes airborne for a loose ball in Tuesday’s opening round playoff win vs Marblehead.

Coming off an appearance in last year’s finals, the Harbormen’s journey back to the championship game started on Tuesday night vs Marblehead.  Hingham comes in as the 9th seed and scored early to start both halves giving them the 2-0 lead early in the second half.  Marblehead (24th seed) scored about halfway through the second to cut it to one, but Hingham’s defense stepped up and secured the win.  They will now head down to Dartmouth to face the 8th seeded team on Saturday for a noon kick off.

FOOTBALL

Junior JT Reale leaps over tacklers on his way to a 92 yard TD in Hingham’s final regular season game last week vs Silver Lake.

The Harbormen finished up an impressive regular season last week with a 6-2 record.  There two loses were by a combined TWO points to very good Abington and Marshfield teams.  Their efforts earned them a 4th seed in the Division 3 playoffs starting tonight vs 13th seed Minnechaug at 7pm.  Third year head coach TJ Byrne has his guys focused and hungry to prove they belong and are a team to be taken seriously.  This will be a great game to kick off an action packed weekend of playoff excitement.
