Straits Pond Watershed Association Announces a Community History Event— “Local Lore and History of Straits Pond—Cohasset and Hull”
On Saturday, November 15, 2025, the Straits Pond Watershed Association will hold its first ever community event to celebrate the rich history of the pond and surrounding area. This free event will be held November 15 from 1-4 p.m. at the Panagia Greek Orthodox Church at 811 Jerusalem Road in Cohasset on Straits Pond. The church is historically significant as it was built by Albert Pope to memorialize his son who passed away.
Albert Pope, who was the founder of the world’s largest manufacturer of bicycles, Columbia Bicycles, in the late 1800s, and a pioneer in the automobile industry, built Lyndermere, a 50-acre estate spanning from a hilltop above down to the shores of Straits Pond.
Attendees are encouraged to bring anything relevant they’d like to share. Children Welcome.
