Margery Hunt Price, 94 years old, of Hingham passed away peacefully on October 30, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late George “Whit” Price of Hingham Centre. Born on December 13, 1930, Margery was the daughter of the late Edward and Catherine Hunt. She grew up in Braintree and was a 1948 graduate of Thayer Academy. Following high school, Marge attended Boston University’s Sargent College graduating in 1952. She returned to Thayer Academy from 1970 – 1991 as the Assistant Director of Athletics. After retiring, Marge was thrilled to be inducted into the Thayer Academy Hall of Fame in 1994.
After living with Whit in Hingham for 40 plus years and then retirement in Lighthouse Point, FL Marge moved to Linden Ponds where she enjoyed 20 active years and made many dear friends there.
Marge was a loving mother to Nancy Devine and her husband Matthew Devine of Scituate, Robert Price and his husband Steven Tessmer of Melbourne, FL and the late Linda Heinzelman and her surviving husband Thomas of Queensbury, NY. She was a loyal sister to Edward (Susan) Hunt of Lynchburg, VA and Robert (Barbara) Hunt of Berkley.
Marge cherished her five grandchildren; Erin Devine, Kerry (Michael Cieri) Devine, Tracy (Nate) Hammond, Mark (Julie) Heinzelman and Kevin (Mackenzie) Heinzelman as well as being Gigi to her six great-grandchildren; Anna and Zoe Cieri, Harper and Charlie Heinzelman and Quinn and Whit Hammond.
Marge was an active participant and member of the Hingham Congregational Church, Hingham Historical Society and the Hingham Yacht Club.
Marge will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. In Lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during visiting hours on Monday November 3, 2025, from 4-7pm at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel 21 Pond Street Hingham MA 02043. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday November 4, 2025, at 10am at the Hingham Congregational Church 378 Main Street Hingham MA 02043. Burial will follow at Hingham Center Cemetery.
