Victoria Choo of Hingham, Massachusetts, has been accepted into the Peace Corps. Choo will depart for Vietnam on October 2 to begin training as an English teacher.

Choo is a 2025 graduate of University of Chicago with a joint master’s degree in political science and a bachelor’s degree in global studies.

“I admire the Peace Corps’ values of service and friendship. I would like to make a positive impact on a community,” said Choo.

As an English teacher in Vietnam, Choo will collaborate with the staff at a school to strengthen the English proficiency of students.

The daughter of Theresa and Arthur Choo of Hingham, Choo joins the 102 Massachusetts residents currently serving in the Peace Corps. More than 8,653 Massachusetts residents have served in the Peace Corps since 1961.

Peace Corps volunteers serve in host communities for two years following three months of training and receive a living stipend, housing, extensive language and technical training, and financial benefits that can include graduate school fellowships after service.
