Community members interested in serving on the 2025 School Building Committee are encouraged to submit a talent bank application — available on the town website at https://www.hingham-ma.gov/formcenter/board-of-selectmen-15/talent-bank-application-66 — expressing their interest in serving in that capacity. There are two community member seats available. The deadline is Sept. 19.

The positions will be advertised on the Hingham Public Schools website and in principal and superintendent newsletters.

Voters at the Spring 2025 Town Meeting supported the establishment of a 2025 School Building Committee consisting of seven voting citizens of the Town of Hingham – two members appointed by the town moderator; two by the Select Board; and three by the School Committee, including one SC member.

The SBC is authorized to “study, prepare, monitor, advise, and complete a feasibility study, schematic design, and other related projects” for the replacement of the Plymouth River and South School roofs and replacement of the high school roof and an updated HVAC system.

The committee will collaborate with the Massachusetts School Building Authority related to the funding and oversee the execution of the specified roof and HVAC system projects.

The School Committee Finance Subcommittee will conduct interviews of applicants and select committee members between Sept. 22 and Oct. 17 and then inform the full School Committee of their selection prior to the Oct. 27 School Committee meeting, when the names will be announced.
