
It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of (Clarence) Peter Zicko, of Hingham, MA. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. He passed away peacefully after a period of failing health on July 20, 2025.
Peter was a Born in 1931 in Natick, MA., he served 4 years in the United States Army before receiving Bachelor of Science and Masters of Science degrees in Electrical Engineering from M.I.T.
Peter is survived by his loving and devoted wife Paula (Walsh) Zicko of Hingham, his two daughters, Heather Zicko and her husband Phillipe of New York, Christa (Zicko) Cooke and her husband Kevin of Duxbury, his stepdaughter Allison (Walsh) O’Neill and her husband Patrick of Hingham, and his brother Theodore Zicko and his wife Leslie of Sandwich. Known as Papa and Grandpa, he also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren, Liam Higgins, Caylee Higgins, Kate Cooke, Colin Segura, Flynn Segura, Matthew O’Neill and Brady O’Neill. Peter was predeceased by his parents George Sotir Zicko and Tefta Stella (Stevens) Zicko. his wife Helen Zicko and brother Richard.
Peter was a humble man blessed with a brilliant analytical mind and natural curiosity; gifts he used to follow his passion for investing and finding novel solutions to complex problems. While studying for his master’s degree in electrical engineering at M.I.T. his accomplishments at the Draper Labs included designing DC power and guidance systems for the NASA’s Polaris Missile and developing a design technique for the Apollo guidance system that was patented by NASA. After leaving M.I.T. Peter continued his career as a gifted and innovative engineer working for several companies including Inland Controls, Analog Devices, and Copley Controls.
Peter was a brilliant, beautiful, gifted, loving, and humble man. He was deeply loved and will be sadly missed.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, July 24, 2025, from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St, Hingham, 02043. Funeral Mass will be held on Friday July 25, 2025, at Saint Paul’s Church, 147 North St. Hingham, MA 02043 at 10:00 am.
