Hingham Historical Society Hosts Harvest Supper featuring Biographer Stephen D. Engle.

The Hingham Historical Society will be hosting its annual Harvest Supper on Wednesday, November 15th from 6pm-9pm. Guests will enjoy cocktails and a delicious Autumn inspired dinner in the beautiful Hingham Heritage Museum ballroom. During dessert and coffee, a special presentation will be delivered from Stephen D. Engle, author of In Pursuit of Justice: The Life of John Albion Andrew.

Stephen D. Engle is Associate Provost at Florida Atlantic University and has taught in the history department for the past three decades. His research focuses on the study of the American Civil War and Reconstruction Era, and his books examine the ethnic dimensions of the period, civil-military relations during the war, and the politics of race and power.

A former Fulbright Scholar and a lecturer for the Smithsonian Institution’s Associates Program, Engle was the 2016 Distinguished Teacher of the Year at Florida Atlantic University and is the author of several books, including Gathering to Save a Nation: Lincoln and the Union’s War Governors (2016), winner of the 55th annual Barondess/Lincoln Award, and In Pursuit of Justice: The Life of John Albion Andrew (2023.)

Signed copies of Professor Engle’s books will be available for purchase in the Museum Shop following the program.
