As part of the National Night Out campaign that promotes police-community partnerships, the Hingham Police Department will host a free family event Tuesday, Aug. 1, at Cronin Field behind the station starting at 6 p.m.
Activities include face painting sponsored by the Derby Street Shops from 6 to 8 p.m. and Nona’s ice cream truck, popcorn courtesy of Patriot Cinemas, a bounce house, and a visit by friendly comfort dogs from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Also featured will be music, a K-9 demonstration, police vehicles, and an HPD drone at 6:30 p.m. followed by a fire rope demonstration by Hingham Fire Department at 7:15 p.m., community resource tables, and more. DARE Officer Rob Ramsey will DJ/emcee the event.
A highlight of the evening will be the showing of the Super Mario Bros. movie on a big screen starting at sunset. Bring blankets and chairs!
Parking is available at Haley Field, the playground area behind Central Fire Station on Main Street, and at Hingham Town Hall.
