South Shore Health’s Janet Limke, MD, is Norfolk South District Medical Society’s 2023 Community Clinician of the Year.

Recognized by her peers for exceptional patient care, the award highlights Dr. Limke’s ongoing commitment, advocacy and educational efforts related to environmental health and patient well-being.

“Dr. Limke has been a valued and trusted member of our medical center for over 10 years,” said Dr. Jennifer Winslow, Chief of Ambulatory Specialties, Department of Rheumatology, South Shore Medical Center, part of South Shore Health. “Her multidisciplinary training offers patients a unique and comprehensive approach to care and treatment. We congratulate her on this well-deserved recognition.”

Board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Limke specializes in the care of patients with spine disorders. From 2012-2020 she served as Medical Director of the Spine Center at the Center for Orthopedics, Spine and Sports Medicine. She been a member of the Massachusetts Medical Society since 2004 where she serves as a delegate, as a member of the Committee on Occupational and Environmental Health, and a member of the Committee on Exercise and Nutrition.

Additionally, as a recent diplomat of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. Limke embraces the therapeutic use of lifestyle change as the foundation of health. Using lifestyle coaching, she incorporates intensive exercise, positive language and cognitive behavioral strategies to help enhance patient engagement. Patients learn to better manage their spine conditions, and minimize the effects of chronic diseases.

Dr. Limke received her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed her residency at Tufts Medical Center. She joined the faculty at the University of Cincinnati in 1990. She returned to the Northeast and worked at New England Baptist Hospital Spine Center for 11 years prior to joining South Shore Health in 2012.
