As we find our meaning and purpose we also realize that some invisible form of guidance has been leading us. We may not be able to recognize this in the moment\, but in looking back over our lives we see the footprints of an invisible being that has guided us\, challenged us\, and carried us through… \n… The Labyrinth\, in its strange and uncanny way\, offers a sacred and stable space to focus the attention and listen to the longing of the soul.” \nJoin Brother James Crowley\, OSB\, to explore the Labyrinth at Glastonbury Abbey. Brother James will share his passion for this ancient metaphor for the spiritual journey. Though not an expert\, Brother James has studied\, prayed with\, and experienced the possibilities of the Labyrinth’s power to reveal the connection between God and oneself. The weekend will include walking our nature inspired Labyrinth as well as learning how to use other sources to gain the same focus. \nIt should be noted that our outdoor labyrinth is located on the rustic grounds of the abbey. DESCRIPTION:South Shore Conservatory’s Evenings Under the Stars invites families to embark on a journey of discovery and friendship with “Wild Symphony\,” an interactive picture book by Dan Brown\, and live concert experience detailing the adventures of Maestro Mouse and his symphonic friends! From the playful “Bouncing Kangaroo” to the majestic “Ponderous Pachyderm\,” each movement of the piece\, presented by local music educators in Commonwealth Wind Symphony and SSC faculty\, introduces children and adults to a delightful menagerie of musical animals. Former SSC preschool teacher Margaret Curtis narrates the piece. Families are given a copy of the book to read along during the concert and to take home and enjoy long after the last note is played. Everyone is invited to stay after the concert for fun activities such as an instrumental petting zoo. Over the course of a week\, each young artist will create sea creature sculptures made completely from marine debris and beach trash. They will be working with materials that I have cleaned from local beaches but they are also welcome to bring their own material to create with. The workshop will be held in my working studio and participants will be able to create in an environment that allows their imaginations to soar. We will talk about the different debris and its ecological impact. I will guide and assist these young artists with their creations so they are truly proud of their work.
